Pressure in the Head in Tacoma
Short-term but recurrent head pressure or prolonged continuous head pressure in Tacoma can severely affect your life. While this condition is obviously felt in the head, it often originates from blood vessels in the neck. The blood supply to the head is provided by the carotid arteries and vertebral arteries that travel through the neck. The vertebral arteries pass through an opening in the bones of the cervical spine. At the atlas bone these arteries go through a series of significant twists before passing up into the skull. Cerebral spinal fluid drains from the skull through the jugular veins that pass close to the front of the atlas bone.
Interference of Blood Flow in Tacoma
Misalignments of the upper cervical spine can interfere with the flow of the blood into and out of the brain and skull. This can be felt as a buildup of pressure in the head. This can develop following many types of injuries, from car accidents to sports collisions to something as simple as having your head moved quickly in a fall or riding a roller coaster. Here, at Simmons Chiropractic Clinic, we are trained to assess misalignments of the upper cervical spine that can lead to these symptoms. Using the Advanced Orthogonal Adjusting Instrument, we make gentle, precise corrections to this area of the spine based on each patient’s specific alignment issue. There is no “cracking” or “popping” of the spine used in this correction.
